[Aylesbury Canal Society] the use of the Aylesbury Arm, and to run moorings leased from British Waterways. The river previously ran through Hermitage Lock into the Old West River, then joined the Cam near Little Thetford before [Wendover Arm Canal] planks were replaced by a stop lock, which was operational by 1901. By 1904 the canal company had decided to abandon the arm as a navigation. The top 4 miles [Broughton, Aylesbury] Broughton /ˈbrɔːtən/ is a hamlet to the east of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England and together with Bierton and other neighbouring hamlets forms part [Buckingham Arm] cruise on the nearby Aylesbury Arm, the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) tried to promote the idea of restoring the Buckingham Arm in 1961, but there [Wendover] the point where the main road across the Chilterns between London and Aylesbury intersects with the once important road along the foot of the Chilterns [Grand Junction Canal] into disuse, though the Wendover Arm is undergoing active restoration, and part of it is again navigable.
