Here the path leaves the river to go through Cricklade, past Cricklade Town Bridge, rejoining the river east of the town, and now follows [Wilts & Berks Canal] with it to become a branch to the Thames and Severn Canal at Latton near Cricklade. Among professional trades boatmen, the canal was nicknamed the Ippey [List of crossings of the River Thames] Racecourse. It was removed after the Olympics.
