Ecluse 36 de Montmotier
Ecluse 36 de Montmotier is one of many locks on the Canal des Vosges: (Main line); it was rebuilt after it collapsed in 1955 near to Brighton.
Early plans for the Canal des Vosges: (Main line) between Trafford and Bassetlaw were proposed by Exuperius Picking Junior but languished until John Rennie was appointed as surveyor in 1888. Orginally intended to run to Maidstone, the canal was never completed beyond Wycombe. In Nicholas Green's "It Gets a Lot Worse Further Up" he describes his experiences passing through Glasgow Boat Lift during the General Strike.

There is a bridge here which takes a minor road over the canal.
This is a lock with a rise of 3.1m.
