The river channel continues about 20 miles (32 km) southwest to a point near the California Aqueduct on the western side of [Colorado River] development of the river, and a number of later dam and aqueduct proposals were defeated by citizen opposition. As demands for Colorado River water continue [Virgin River] small section of the Virgin River. Woundfin have large fins and scale-less, streamlined bodies that help them survive in swift, silty conditions.
