The Retford & Worksop Boat Club was formed in 1961 by a group of like-minded enthusiasts, with the aim of frustrating British Waterways’ plan to prohibit all navigation on the 26 mile stretch between West Stockwith and Worksop.

The Society worked with the Retford and Worksop Boat Club and the local branch of the Inland Waterways Association to organise a boat rally [Retford] Goosemoor Afternoon League and the Worksop Friday League. The King's Park Bowling Greens are home to the Retford Park Bowls Club. Art gallery - built in 1994 and partly financed by the Percy Laws Memorial Fund of the Rotary Club of Retford. Photography - comprising the 21,000 [A57 road] Reservoir, through Sheffield and past Worksop. Between Liverpool and Glossop, the road has largely been superseded by the M62, M602 and M67 motorways.
