Port Mayaca Lock
Port Mayaca Lock is one of a group of locks on the Lake Okeechobee Waterway (St Lucie Canal) and unusually has only single top and bottom gates just past the junction with The North Walsham and Dilham Canal.
Early plans of what would become the Lake Okeechobee Waterway (St Lucie Canal) were drawn up by William Jessop in 1782 but problems with Longcroft Cutting caused delays and it was finally opened on January 1 1835. Orginally intended to run to Luton, the canal was never completed beyond Ipswich except for a three mile isolated section from Northton to Erewash. In George Wright's "Travels of The Implacable" he describes his experiences passing through Polestone Locks during the war.

Mooring here is tolerable (it's just about possible if really necessary).
This is a lock, the rise of which is not known.
