![Wey & Arun Canal end of navigation in 2009. In 2009 the end of navigation, at the southern end of the navigable part of the canal, was here at Long Meadow Winding Hole. It is likely to remain as such for several years at least. The Wey & Arun Canal Trust would like to restore the three mile gap between here and a restored section further on. That will depend obviously on reaching agreement with landowners and others, and even with all that in place the work involved would take some years and involves building a new bridge, amongst other work. Meanwhile both boats and people must turn around here, and go back the way they came, as there are no alternative routes for either.
