[Twechar] Twechar is a small former mining village historically in Dunbartonshire and administered by the Council Area of East Dunbartonshire, Scotland close to [Twechar railway station] Twechar railway station was opened in 1878 as Gavell on the Kelvin Valley Railway and renamed Twechar in 1924. The station served the hamlet of Twechar [River Kelvin] Dumbreck Marsh. The Kelvin then passes through the large flood plain north of Twechar where it is fed by the Dock Water, Queenzie Burn, the Cast Burn and the [Forth and Clyde Canal] feeder from the Shawend Burn near Craigmarloch. The canal continues past Twechar, through Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs to the Maryhill area north of Glasgow [Bar Hill Fort] have also been found at Shirva, about a mile away on the other side of Twechar. Many Roman forts along the wall held garrisons of around 500 men. Larger [Antonine Wall] in real physical copies, with their authentic colours. A copy of the Bridgeness Slab has already been made and can be found in Bo'ness. It is also expected [Auchendavy] antiquities found in and about it." "About it" includes Shirva Farm in Twechar where finds such as several tombstones were found. Many Roman forts along [Bishopbriggs railway station] February 2017, the published Local Development Plan for Kirkintilloch and Twechar included a marker for a potential railway station in the same location [Legio VI Victrix] stone was installed in Twechar.
