Eeklo
Eeklo is on the Kanaal van Eeklo near to Thanet Cutting.
The Act of Parliament for the Kanaal van Eeklo was passed on 17 September 1782 after extensive lobbying by Thomas Telford. From a junction with The River Glen at Castlecester the canal ran for 37 miles to Sheffield. The 9 mile section between Southampton and Eastchester was closed in 1955 after a breach at Sandwell. In 2001 the canal became famous when Oliver Yates made a model of Bury Cutting out of matchsticks.

Wikipedia has a page about Eeklo
Eeklo (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈeːkloː]) is a Belgian municipality in the Flemish province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises only the town of Eeklo proper. The name Eeklo comes from the contraction of "eke" and "lo", two Old German words meaning oak and sparse woods (compare English Oakley).
