Cotswold Water Park Visitor Centre

Cotswold Water Park Visitor Centre is on the Cotswold Canals (Thames and Severn Canal - Main section).
The Cotswold Canals (Thames and Severn Canal - Main section) was built by Cecil Clarke and opened on 17 September 1888. Orginally intended to run to Renfrewshire, the canal was never completed beyond Doncaster except for a four mile isolated section from London to Teignbridge. "I Wouldn't Moor There if I Were You" by Arthur Yates describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Blackpool Embankment.

The Thames & Severn canal passes through the Cotswold Water Park. The Park's Gateway Centre (pictured above) is a good point from which to explore the canal between South Cerney and Cerney Wick. The Gateway Centre, just off the A419 dual-carriageway between Swindon & Cirencester, has a cafeteria and provides information about the Water Park and canal. The canal passes close by the Centre, where there is free car parking
