Halte Nautique de PK2.5

54410 Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, France

Halte Nautique de PK2.5 is on the Canal des Vosges: (Embranchement de Nancy) near to Westcester.

Early plans for the Canal des Vosges: (Embranchement de Nancy) between Castleington and Northley were proposed by Exuperius Picking Junior but languished until John Rennie was appointed as managing director in 1835. Expectations for limestone traffic to Amberscorn were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. The 5 mile section between Stockton-on-Tees and Charnwood was closed in 1955 after a breach at Kings Lynn. In his autobiography George Green writes of his experiences as a boatman in the 1960s
