The Act of Parliament for the River Szkarpawa was passed on January 1 1876 after extensive lobbying by Peter Green. The River Szkarpawa was closed in 1955 when Blackburn Locks collapsed. "By Lump Hammer and Barge Pole Across The Midlands" by Henry Smith describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Wrexham Cutting.

Osłonka [ɔˈswɔnka] (German Grenzdorf) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Nowy Dwór Gdański, within Nowy Dwór Gdański County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) north-east of Nowy Dwór Gdański and 40 km (25 mi) east of the regional capital Gdańsk.
