[Stanley Dock] is part of the northern dock system. The dock is connected to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to the east and Collingwood Dock to the west. Designed by [Leeds and Liverpool Canal] constructed into the Liverpool docks system. In the mid-18th century the growing towns of Yorkshire, including Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford, were trading [Port of Hull] Town Docks. The first was The Dock (1778), (or The Old Dock, known as Queen's Dock after 1855), followed by Humber Dock (1809) and Junction Dock (1829) [Leeds] distance from the city centre at Leeds Dock. Nearby is the Leeds Museum Discovery Centre (formerly housed at the Leeds Museum Resource Centre in Yeadon) [Floating dock (impounded)] dock is isolated from tidal water by a lock gate, at least, although in many dock systems the entrance is more complex than this. The first wet dock was [Prince's Half-Tide Dock] Waterloo Dock and West Waterloo Dock to the north and Prince's Dock to the south. The dock opened in 1810 and consisted of a lock entrance from the Mersey [Salisbury Dock] was as a half tide dock, connected directly to the river via two lock entrances. These provided access between the Mersey and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal [Eastern Entrance to Immingham Dock electric railway station] Eastern Entrance to Immingham Dock electric railway station was a temporary halt 62 chains (1.2 km) by route south east of the western terminus of the [Waterloo Dock (Liverpool)] separate basins; East Waterloo Dock and West Waterloo Dock. Initially planned eleven years earlier, the lock entrance from the Mersey was finally opened [Manchester Dock (Liverpool)] not linked directly to the other docks. The benefits of turning it into a proper dock were soon realised, and an entrance lock was constructed between 1810
