[River Trent] The bridge was probably gone by around 1311 when nearby Wilden ferry, near Shardlow was first recorded, and the site thereafter went without a bridge until [River Don, Yorkshire] Ltd, Thorncliffe Ironworks, the bridge originally provided access to one of the works (Dunford Hadfields, Shardlows or Arthur Lees) that used to occupy [List of crossings of the River Trent] major tributary on the river. Starting at Essex Bridge it includes ferries; road, rail, foot and pipe bridges found along the river to Trent Falls. Fords [Nutbrook Canal] Stanton was lowered in 1913 by the Ironworks Company, who attempted to get Shardlow Rural District Council to contribute to the cost, but there is no known [List of Peckett and Sons railway locomotives] from 1750 1823 1931 R4 0-4-0 4 ft 8 1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) Scrapped 1972 Ex Shardlow & Co Sheffield. He also started to lecture the kneeling boy about [Weston-on-Trent] which still included other settlements in Derbyshire including Aston, Shardlow, Wilne, Morley and Smalley to the Bishop of Durham.
