[Patricroft railway station] Patricroft railway station is in the Patricroft district of Eccles, Greater Manchester, England. The station is on Green Lane, just north of the junction [Patricroft] Patricroft is an area of Eccles, Greater Manchester, England. Patricroft may derive its name from 'Pear-tree croft', or more likely, 'Patrick's Croft' [Liverpool and Manchester Railway] Moss 1st (closed 1 May 1862) Barton Moss 2nd (closed 23 September 1929) Patricroft Eccles Weaste (closed 19 October 1942; site destroyed when M602 road built) [Bridgewater Canal] Worsley Hall, with a view of the canal, and were given a trip between Patricroft railway station and Worsley Hall, on state barges. Large crowds had gathered [A57 road] runs east from Liverpool to Lincoln via Warrington, Cadishead, Irlam, Patricroft, Eccles, Salford and Manchester, then through the Pennines over the Snake [Winton, Greater Manchester] Lane (borders with Peel Green), the railway on Worsley Road (borders with Patricroft), the Bridgewater Canal bridge at the top of Parrin Lane (borders [Eccles, Greater Manchester] was at Mosley Common. The London and North Western Railway also built a line from Patricroft railway station to Molyneux Junction, via Clifton Hall Tunnel [Manchester Piccadilly station] for railway modernisation. The former MSJA&R through platforms and bridges over Fairfield Street were rebuilt on a prestressed concrete slab bridge with [Ordsall Lane railway station] being a double track railway (the section from here to Patricroft had previously been quadrupled by the London and North Western Railway back in the early [River Irwell Railway Bridge] The River Irwell Railway Bridge was built for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway (L&MR), the world's first passenger railway which used only steam locomotives
