![No road to Gloucester - Over, Gloucestershire. This is the southern end of the now-superseded stretch of road where it joins Over Causeway which ran through Over (locally pronounced as Oover) for traffic on its way to and from Gloucester. Until 1966 with the building of the first Severn Bridge, Gloucester was the lowest bridge crossing of the River Severn. This route was in use until 1974 when the road crossing of the railway was removed and the present road through Over to the Alney Island roundabout and into Gloucester by the Over Causeway was completed. All that remains now to show where traffic once flowed is this stretch of roadway and the old Over Bridge. The disc sign indicates the Over Ponds Nature Reserve. Time photo taken not available.
