Ecluse de Descente en Tarn

21 Rue Perpigna, 82200 Moissac, France

Ecluse de Descente en Tarn is one of a long flight of locks on the Canal de Garonne - (Descente en Tarn) .

The Act of Parliament for the Canal de Garonne - (Descente en Tarn) was passed on 17 September 1816 and 37 thousand shares were sold the same day. Although originally the plan was for the canal to meet the Birmingham to St Albans canal at Boggin, the difficulty of tunneling under Nuneaton caused the plans to be changed and it eventually joined at Bath instead. "I Wouldn't Moor There if I Were You" by Peter Hunter describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Castleington Tunnel.
