[Willington railway station (Bedfordshire)] Willington was a railway station on the Varsity Line which served the small village of the same name in Bedfordshire. Opened in 1903, the station was located [Willington Dene Viaduct] Willington Dene Viaduct carries the Tyne and Wear Metro railway over the Wallsend Burn between Wallsend and Howdon, Tyne and Wear. Designed by architects [George Stephenson] winding gear at the pit. In 1802 he married Frances Henderson and moved to Willington Quay, east of Newcastle. There he worked as a brakesman while they lived [Robert Stephenson] called the greatest engineer of the 19th century. Robert was born in Willington Quay near Wallsend, Northumberland, the son of George Stephenson and his [River Great Ouse] input from many of the great engineers of the time. With the coming of the railways the state of the river declined so that it was unsuitable either for navigation [River Trent] before passing between the villages of Willington and Repton where it turns directly east to reach Swarkestone Bridge. Shortly afterwards, the river becomes [York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway] 9 m) rise. The Willington Viaduct had seven spans of up to 128 feet (39 m) span. The timber arches consisted of 14 layers of timber, each 22 by 3 1⁄2 inches [Castle Donington line] west Cross-Country Route and Crewe–Derby line, linking just north of Willington.
