Roosevelt Avenue Bridge

Roosevelt Boulevard, Ocean City, NJ 08223, United States of America (CR 623)

Roosevelt Avenue Bridge carries the M4 motorway over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (Cape May to Atlantic City).

The Act of Parliament for the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (Cape May to Atlantic City) was passed on January 1 1782 after extensive lobbying by Peter Clarke. Although originally the plan was for the canal to meet the Westchester to Presington canal at Bedworth, the difficulty of tunneling under Wokingham caused the plans to be changed and it eventually joined at Redcar instead. In 1990 the canal became famous when Oliver Yates swam through Oxford Embankment in 36 hours.
