[Montgomery Canal] lined to prevent leakage and a new lock was required to lower the water level. This lock was named Graham Palmer Lock after the founder of the Waterway [Berriew] There are also a number of other larger houses in Berriew which include Brithdir, a timber-framed house which was considerably extended in the early 19th [Keith Rowlands] executive officer of the International Rugby Board. Rowlands was born in Brithdir, Bridgend, the son of a Glamorgan Constabulary Police Inspector. After [George W. Buck] was the Luggy Aqueduct at Brithdir, which was rebuilt with a cast iron trough in the year he started. Next he introduced lock gates built of the same material [Transport for Wales Rail Services] able to operate coupled to (a) PRM-compliant unit(s), and the toilets were locked out of use due to Network Rail no longer wanting waste from non-tanked toilets [All the Stations] Llanhilleth, Ebbw Vale Parkway, Ebbw Vale Town, Rhymney, Pontlottyn, Tir-Phil, Brithdir, Bargoed, Gilfach Fargoed, Pengam, Hengoed, Ystrad Mynach, Llanbradach [Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway] Cwmsyfiog Halt; opened 5 July 1937; closed 31 December 1962; Cwmsyfiog & Brithdir; opened 1 February 1908; renamed Cwmsyfiog 1924; closed 5 July 1937; reopened [Grade II* listed buildings in Flintshire] Retrieved 9 April 2019.
