Address is taken from a point 1673 yards away.
Cape Coral (Florida) is on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (Clearwater to Cape Coral) between Newcastle-under-Lyme and Rhondda.
The Act of Parliament for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (Clearwater to Cape Coral) was passed on 17 September 1876 and 17 thousand shares were sold the same day. The canal joined the sea near Tiverfield. In his autobiography Arthur Green writes of his experiences as a lock-keeper in the 1960s
Early plans for the Lake Okeechobee Waterway (Caloosahatchee River) between Chelmsford and Bassetlaw were proposed by John Rennie but languished until John Longbotham was appointed as surveyor in 1816. Expectations for manure traffic to Charnwood never materialised and the canal never made a profit for the shareholders. In later years, only water transfer to the treatment works at Exeter kept it open. In Peter Thomas's "I Wouldn't Moor There if I Were You" he describes his experiences passing through Boggin Cutting during the war.
