The line was forked: it reached Pinxton in 1875 and a junction with the North Staffordshire Railway at Egginton, approaching [Pinxton South railway station] time of this withdrawal Awsworth Junction signal box moved from 24 to 8 hour opening with the remaining Pinxton branch freight traffic being confined to [Mansfield and Pinxton Railway] 1°13′28″W / 53.13250°N 1.22444°W / 53.13250; -1.22444 The Mansfield and Pinxton Railway was an early horse-drawn railway in the United Kingdom. It was [Erewash Valley] Mansfield and Pinxton Railway in 1819. Later the Midland Railway built a connection from its line at Trent Junction to the Mansfield and Pinxton, and onward [Midland Railway] the Mansfield and Pinxton Railway in 1847, extending the Erewash Valley Line from the latter between Chesterfield and Trent Junction at Long Eaton, completed [Great Northern Railway (Great Britain)] struck north to Pinxton, in the Erewash Valley, opening in 1875, followed by a westward line through Derby and on from there to a junction with the North Staffordshire [Eastwood and Langley Mill railway station] Extension in 1875–6. It lay on the branch from Awsworth Junction, where it crossed the Giltbrook Viaduct, on the way to Pinxton. At the time it was in Nottinghamshire [Pinxton and Selston railway station] Mansfield Branch Line (Now the Robin Hood Line). It was one of three stations that served the village of Pinxton. The others were both Pinxton South and [Codnor Park and Selston railway station] Extension in 1875-6 and closed in 1963.
