[Montgomery Canal] Head to Gronwen Wharf was reopened opening the canal through the village of Maesbury Marsh. The 875-yard (800 m) section from Gronwen Wharf to Redwith Bridge [Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway] There are gates at both points where it crosses the perimeter fence. Maesbury Railway Cutting between East Horrington and Gurney Slade is a Geological [Ellesmere Canal] Wrexham to Brymbo. A branch would run from near Hordley to Llanymynech, via Maesbury, Morton and Crickheath. A 17-mile (27 km) branch would run from near Tetchill [Morda Tramway] road at Albridge Lane, and met the Montgomery Canal at a wharf by Gronwen Bridge south of Maesbury, where the canal now ends. When the large Drill colliery [Clayton Congregational Church] breakaway group formed a separate church which met at Roberts's residence, "Maesbury House". Roberts, who was antipathetic to Stow, but later publicly reversed
