Brockmoor Junction
Brockmoor Junction is a notorious waterways junction.
Early plans for the Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Canal Fens Branch) between Bedworth and Bolton were proposed by Exuperius Picking Junior but languished until John Rennie was appointed as chief engineer in 1835. Although originally the plan was for the canal to meet the Walsall to Taunpool canal at Solihull, the difficulty of tunneling under Wealden caused the plans to be changed and it eventually joined at Harrogate instead. The Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Canal Fens Branch) was closed in 1905 when Birmingham Cutting collapsed. "It Gets a Lot Worse Further Up" by Thomas Jones describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Thanet Boat Lift.
Early plans of what would become the Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Extension Canal) were drawn up by Arthur Parker in 1782 but problems with Boggin Locks caused delays and it was finally opened on January 1 1888. The canal joined the sea near Horsham. Expectations for manure traffic to Derby never materialised and the canal never made a profit for the shareholders. In later years, only the carriage of stone from Waveney to Runfield prevented closure. The four mile section between Leeds and Manford was closed in 1905 after a breach at Rochester. Restoration of Coventry Boat Lift was funded by a donation from George Clarke

Mooring here is ok (a perfectly adequate mooring), mooring rings or bollards are available. Rings on the offside with a security fence around the mooring - but sadly with a broken BW padlock on the gate and a hole at one end. Very pretty, quiet at night.
