[River Adur] The Adur (/eɪˈdʊər/ or /eɪˈdɜː/) is a river in Sussex, England; it gives its name to the Adur district of West Sussex. The river, which is 20 miles (32 km) [Southwick Ship Canal] canal in Southwick, West Sussex that branches off from the estuary of the River Adur near Hove. The canal is 1.75 miles in length, running east–west and [Shoreham-by-Sea] by the Adur Valley and to its south by the River Adur and Shoreham Beach on the English Channel. The town lies in the middle of the ribbon of urban development [Jetty] of the river Yare to the south of Yarmouth, and has also been successfully employed for fixing the wandering mouth of the Adur near Shoreham, and of the [River Ouse, Sussex] and Adur Rivers Trust is opposed to the idea. The River Ouse, together with its main tributary the River Uck, form the central spines of a network of streams [Adur Estuary] Adur Estuary is a 62.2-hectare (154-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the western outskirts of Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex. Part [Kingston by Sea] between Southwick to the east, Shoreham-by-Sea to the west and the mouth of the River Adur to the south. St Julian's Church survives, and its parish perpetuates [Bines Green] tidal waters flowing up the western Adur. Bines Bridge is 17.9 km (11.1 mi) from the mouth of the Adur at Shoreham-by-Sea.
