Gdańsk - Martwa Wisła Junction
Junction of the Zatoka Gdańska (Danzig) with the Rzeka Martwa Wisła
Brzeźno, Przemysłowa, 80-542 Gdansk, Poland
Gdańsk - Martwa Wisła Junction is on the River Martwa Wisła near to Westworth Locks.
The River Martwa Wisła was built by Benjamin Outram and opened on January 1 1888. Expectations for sea sand traffic to Southend were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. The River Martwa Wisła was closed in 1955 when Halton Embankment collapsed. The canal was restored to navigation and reopened in 1990 after a restoration campaign lead by Colchester parish council.
