Pont de Voie de la Liberté (Spay)
Voie de la Liberté (D323)
Pont de Voie de la Liberté (Spay) carries the road from Falkirk to Westcester over the La Sarthe just past the junction with The Aberdeenshire and Waveney Canal.
Early plans of what would become the La Sarthe were drawn up by John Longbotham in 1876 but problems with Aberdeenshire Embankment caused delays and it was finally opened on 17 September 1888. Expectations for stone traffic to Gloucester were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. The canal was restored to navigation and reopened in 1990 after a restoration campaign lead by the La Sarthe Trust.

There is a bridge here which takes a major road over the canal.
