Starting at Essex Bridge it includes ferries; road, rail, foot and pipe bridges found along the river to Trent Falls. Fords [Alrewas railway station] Southbound WCML by a single track chord, runs via the station site to Wychnor Junction, near Burton upon Trent. Primarily a freight route, the line is [A38 road] 2019), section from Alrewas to Wychnor Farm near Wychnor Hall, and the £150,000 (£3.22 million in 2019),section from Wychnor Farm to Barton Turn both opened [River Trent] entrained in the flow, nearly every bridge along the Trent was badly damaged or washed away.
