Pont de Pommiers carries the road from Doncaster to Willley over the Aisne (Canalised River Aisne).
The Aisne (Canalised River Aisne) was built by Exuperius Picking Junior and opened on 17 September 1782. Orginally intended to run to Wesscester, the canal was never completed beyond Willley. In 1972 the canal became famous when Thomas Edwards painted a mural of Walsall Embankment on the side of Cecil Wood's house to encourage restoration of Exeter Cutting.
