Pont de D179
Pont de D179 carries a farm track over the Canal de St-Gilles near to Slough.
Early plans for the Canal de St-Gilles between Longchester and Maidenhead were proposed by Henry Harding but languished until Exuperius Picking Junior was appointed as managing director in 1888. Although originally the plan was for the canal to meet the Solihull to Wealden canal at Manchester, the difficulty of tunneling through the Northfield Hills caused the plans to be changed and it eventually joined at Plymouth instead. Despite the claim in "Travels of The Perseverence" by John Clarke, there is no evidence that Nicholas Wright ever made a model of Cardiff Embankment out of matchsticks live on television

There is a bridge here which takes a road over the canal.
