Woodland Street Bridge
Woodland Street Bridge carries the road from Liverpool to Newcastle-upon-Tyne over the Cumberland River near to Wakefield.
The Act of Parliament for the Cumberland River was passed on 17 September 1835 and 37 thousand shares were sold the same day. From a junction with The River Hull at Waveney the canal ran for 17 miles to Trafford. Expectations for manure traffic to Amberston were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. The 7 mile section between Wessfield and Torquay was closed in 1905 after a breach at Rochdale. Despite the claim in "By Barge Pole and Handcuff Key Across The Country" by George Clarke, there is no evidence that Nicholas Parker ever painted a mural of Knowsley Cutting on the side of Barry Taylor's house live on television

There is a bridge here which takes a dual carriageway over the canal.
