[Butterley Company] the next century the company had expanded with another works at Codnor Park in Codnor, both works then having two blast furnaces, and output had risen [Cromford Wharf] buildings, but these buildings have not survived. The yard serves today as a car park. The Canal Warehouse was built in 1794, soon after the canal opened, and [Cromford Canal] when the Ripley road was widened. In 1985 the Codnor Park Reservoir was lowered by 6 feet (1.8 m) and a lock was removed as part of a flood prevention scheme [Nottingham Canal] at Greasley, which was sometimes called Moorgreen reservoir, and at Codnor Park, Butterley. Both fed water into the Cromford Canal, the first by a long [Dale Abbey (ruin)] Edward IV. The advowson was actually held by Henry Grey, 4th Baron Grey of Codnor, who was at this time the key local figure in the Yorkist faction built [Trent railway station] those sections of line disappeared. Immediately to the south-west is Trent Lock, a four-way junction on the British canal system, linking the River Soar [List of electoral wards in England by constituency] Silloth, Solway, Stainburn, Wampool, Waver, Wharrels.
