Tuel Lane Lock No 3 is a minor waterways place on the Rochdale Canal between Walkley's Clog Mill (4 miles and 2¾ furlongs and 3 locks to the west) and Tuel Lane Tunnel (western entrance) (¼ furlongs to the east).

Navigational Notes

A Canal & River Trust lock keeper is present on the following days between 9th March and 9th November 2015:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday of each week between the dates above (No booking required). On these days the operating times for Tuel lock are first boat entry at 8.30am with last passage at 5.00pm.

Tuel Lane Deep Lock, Sowerby Bridge. Lock 3 (Tuel Lane) is operated by a Canal & River Trust lock keeper. Follow the local signage and the lock keeper’s instructions.

Do not enter the tunnel (below lock 3) whilst boats are in lock 3.

Locks 1 and 3 will be padlocked outside of the normal entry hours specified above.

A booking system is in operation for passage on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, during this period. Bookings should be made by calling our Red Bull office on 03030 404040 during office hours, giving 24 hours’ notice of your booking.

On these days passage is between 8.30am with last boat passage at 3.00pm.

Tuel Lane Lock is a canal lock, situated on the Rochdale Canal in Sowerby Bridge, England. It was built in 1996 as part of the canal's restoration, and replaces two previous locks, locks 3 and 4, from the original canal system.
