![Hazlehurst Aqueduct at Denford in Staffordshire. Looking north-east from Bridge No 3, this is where the Caldon Canal (Leek Branch) crosses the main line to Froghall on the 1841 aqueduct, which replaced the former embankment (circa 1800). Therefore, the original Hazelhurst Junction was here, behind the camera, where a three chamber lock staircase used to serve the old (but not oldest!) main line. The aqueduct's stone mason spells the name Hazlehurst, but all other nearby places are called Hazelhurst.[[[595732]]] by Roger D Kidd – 14 September 2019](https://s1.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/06/27/31/6273157_d838def8_120x120.jpg)

![Hazlehurst Aqueduct. The Hazlehurst Aqueduct was built in 1841, over sixty years after the main Caldon Canal was opened, to carry the Leek Arm. Although this seems a strange way of spelling Hazlehurst, it is quite a common surname and therefore could have been a local dignitary. There is also a small village called Hazlecross further along the main canal towards Kingsley (see: [[396309]] by Jerry Evans) by Jonathan Kington – 30 July 2009](https://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/01/42/20/1422072_0b70b302_120x120.jpg)
