[Spalding, Lincolnshire] line at Vernatts Drain. The Drain runs from the pumping station at Pode Hole to Surfleet Seas End. Fulney Lock is the point where the Welland is no longer [River Welland] land drainage run by the Welland and Deepings Internal Drainage Board, in partnership with South Holland District Council. Vernatt's Drain passes through [River Glen, Lincolnshire] the neighbouring rivers, the Glen and the Welland seem to have been given contrasting names. Visiting this lowest peak near Vernatt's Drain is of interest to participants in the sport of Hill bagging and [Deeping Fen] He oversaw the job of making the Welland through Spalding deeper and wider, and suggested that the outfall of Vernatt's Drain should be moved 2.5 miles [John Grundy Sr.] wheels had been constructed, one on Vernatt's Drain and the other on Hill's Drain.
