[USS Relief (YP-2)] lookout station tender that served in the United States Navy from 1917 to 1921. Relief was a wooden private motorboat built during 1910 at Yarmouth, Maine [THV Galatea] Trinity House since 1987. Mermaid was sold to the Gardline group of Great Yarmouth, for conversion to survey vessel. Galatea is a sister vessel to the NLV [Lymington] the Solent, in the New Forest district of Hampshire, England. It faces Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, to which there is a car ferry service operated by Wightlink [RNLB William Bennett (ON 11)] aboard to assist the yacht whose machinery had broken down. The yacht was taken into tow and was to be taken to Great Yarmouth. They link the town with Norwich and Great Yarmouth and provide services within the town and [RNLB Alfred Corry (ON 353)] The Alfred Corry was constructed in 1893 by Beeching Brothers of Great Yarmouth for the RNLI at a cost of £490.7s.4d.
