Information about the place
Tewitfield is a minor waterways place at the junction of the Lancaster Canal (Northern Reaches - in water) with the Lancaster Canal (Main Line).

Sellet Hall Bridge No 173 is on the Lancaster Canal (Northern Reaches - filled in), 8 miles and 7½ furlongs and 8 locks to the north. Bolton Church Bridge No 122 (Bolton-le-Sands - Packet Boat Hotel) is on the Lancaster Canal (Main Line), 6 miles and 2¼ furlongs to the southwest.

The nearest place in the direction of Sellet Hall Bridge No 173 is Tewitfield Culvert No 139 (The culvert provides water under the A6070 for the main line.); ¼ furlongs away.

The nearest place in the direction of Bolton Church Bridge No 122 is Tewitfield Marina; ¾ furlongs away.

Mooring here is tolerable (it's just about possible if really necessary), mooring rings or bollards are available. Mooring is limited to 48 hours. Very limited moorings - and incredibly noisy, due to the proximity of the M6!.

Facilities: chemical toilet disposal, rubbish disposal, showers, toilets and water point.

You can wind here.

Additional information

Navigators may choose not to moor here, because of the close proximity to the M6 motorway. But for me, it is a very nice spot. Nice grassy towpath side, good pub within very easy reach, car parking available, and nice walks from here (following the disused sections of the canal towards Kendal as one possibility). Temporary secure moorings in the marina if you need to leave your boat.
