[Swing bridge] A swing bridge is a movable bridge that has as its primary structural support a vertical locating pin and support ring, usually at or near to its center [Flushing Meadows–Corona Park] Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, often referred to as Flushing Meadows Park, or simply Flushing Meadows, is a public park in the northern part of Queens [Pitt Meadows] to Port Moody. The main portion of the town of Pitt Meadows is bisected by the CPR mainline. The highway bridge over the Pitt River was opened in 1957 [Sound Shore Parkway] over Huntington Bay into Eatons Neck. At this point, the parkway was to swing southeast toward the Village of Asharoken, where it was to run along the [Flushing River] (610 m) underground before resurfacing at the Tidal Gate Bridge at the northern end of Flushing Meadows–Corona Park. The rest of the river separates the industrial [Leeds and Liverpool Canal] constructed into the Liverpool docks system. In the mid-18th century the growing towns of Yorkshire, including Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford, were trading increasingly [Arundel] over the River Arun as it was the lowest road bridge until the opening of the Littlehampton swing bridge in 1908. Arundel Castle was built by the Normans [List of rail accidents (before 1880)] train fails to stop at a danger signal and attempts to cross an open swing bridge and falls into the Richelieu River at Beloeil, Quebec.
