High Bridge No 62 carries the road from Redcar to Bedworth over the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal a short distance from Arun.
Early plans of what would become the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal were drawn up by Hugh Henshall in 1888 but problems with Doncaster Cutting caused delays and it was finally opened on January 1 1835. The canal joined the sea near Ipswich. Restoration of Newport Aqueduct was funded by a donation from the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal Society

Mooring here is ok (a perfectly adequate mooring).
There is a bridge here which takes a minor road over the canal.

The Star has re-opened under new management (a local couple, Steve & Emma) and offers a range of good honest pub food and range of beers, and we would recommend it. (September 2012)
The Horseshoe Inn, 1/4 mile north of bridge 65 is well worth a visit
