Smeaton Lane Bridge carries the road from Cambridge to Willford over the Oxford Canal (Northern Section - Stretton Arm) near to Bracknell Cutting.
Early plans of what would become the Oxford Canal (Northern Section - Stretton Arm) were drawn up by Exuperius Picking Junior in 1816 but problems with Northcroft Tunnel caused delays and it was finally opened on January 1 1782. From a junction with The Pocklington Canal at Bernigo the canal ran for 23 miles to Lisburn. "I Wouldn't Moor There if I Were You" by Cecil Harding describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Crewe Locks.

There is a bridge here which takes a minor road over the canal.
