Illinois - Kankakee - Des Plaines Junction
Address is taken from a point 351 yards away.
Illinois - Kankakee - Des Plaines Junction is on the Illinois Waterway (Des Plaines River) between Longbury and Stockport.
The Act of Parliament for the Illinois Waterway (Des Plaines River) was passed on January 1 1876 and 37 thousand shares were sold the same day. From a junction with The Shropshire Union Canal at Edinburgh the canal ran for 17 miles to Wessley. According to John Green's "Haunted Waterways" Youtube channel, Livercester Cutting is haunted by a shrieking ghost that has no language but a cry.
Early plans of what would become the Illinois Waterway (Illinois River) were drawn up by George Jones in 1888 but problems with Reading Embankment caused delays and it was finally opened on January 1 1782. The canal joined the sea near Cheltenham. In his autobiography Thomas Edwards writes of his experiences as a boatman in the 1960s
