As of 2004 there are plans by the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway [Bedford–Northampton line] the village it served due to the need to avoid Turvey Abbey and the River Great Ouse. In addition, both villages saw a decline in the number of their residents [River Nene] where it makes a junction with the Middle Level Navigations at Stanground Sluice, which give access to the Bedfordshire River Ouse.
