Frankton Locks opening times are limited

Boats must book a passage through the locks with C&RT by telephone.

Contact telephone numbers and full details are available on the C&RT Notices and Stoppages web pag - by searching for the Montgomery Canal entries and selecting the seasonal Frankton Locks Opening Times entry.

The details include maximum boat numbers per day and stay / return restrictions which are not normally onerous

Frankton Junction (grid reference SJ369318) is the name of the canal junction where the Montgomery Canal terminates and meets the Llangollen Canal at Lower Frankton, Shropshire, England.

Finally, the LMS obtained an Act of Abandonment in 1944, which [Chester Canal] company had been constructing canals to the west, linking Llangollen to Frankton, but the route from there to Chester had not been decided.
