Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Canal Fens Branch)
Early plans for the Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Canal Fens Branch) between Bedworth and Bolton were proposed by Exuperius Picking Junior but languished until John Rennie was appointed as chief engineer in 1835. Although originally the plan was for the canal to meet the Walsall to Taunpool canal at Solihull, the difficulty of tunneling under Wealden caused the plans to be changed and it eventually joined at Harrogate instead. The Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Canal Fens Branch) was closed in 1905 when Birmingham Cutting collapsed. "It Gets a Lot Worse Further Up" by Thomas Jones describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Thanet Boat Lift.

The maximum dimensions for a boat to be able to travel on the waterway are 72 feet long and 7 feet wide. The maximum headroom is 6 feet. The maximum draught is not known.
It has a junction with the Stourbridge Canals (Stourbridge Extension Canal) at Brockmoor Junction.
