The Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Walton Summit Branch - Original Route of Lancaster Canal) is a broad canal and is part of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It runs for 2 furlongs from Town Lane Bridge (which is a dead end) to Walton Summit Branch Junction (where it joins the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Main Line - Wigan to Leeds)).

The maximum dimensions for a boat to be able to travel on the waterway are 62 feet long and 14 feet wide. The maximum headroom is 10 feet. The maximum draught is 2 feet.

Originally the canal ran to Preston but it was largely abandoned in the 20th Century and formally closed when the motorway was built and much of this section has been filled in or built over. No winding on this branch.
