[Zuid-Willemsvaart] The Zuid-Willemsvaart (Dutch: [zœytˈʋɪləmsfaːrt]; translated: South William's Canal) is a canal in the south of the Netherlands and the east of Belgium [Eindhovensch Kanaal] province of North-Brabant. It connects the center of Eindhoven with the Zuid-Willemsvaart. It was dug in the period 1843-1846, commissioned by the town of Eindhoven [Bocholt–Herentals Canal] known locally as the Kempisch Kanaal or the Maas-Scheldekanaal) is a canal in Belgium that links the Zuid-Willemsvaart at Bocholt with the Albert Canal [IJssel] shares its short inflow, the Pannerdens Kanaal, it is a minor discharge of the Rhine. At the fork where the Kanaal is sourced the Rhine becomes named the [Zwolle] several canals (the now disused Willemsvaart, Nieuwe Vecht and Overijssels Kanaal and the modern Zwolle-IJssel Kanaal). There are some water-related industries [Máxima Canal] from the Zuid-Willemsvaart near Den Dungen to the Meuse near Gewande. The Máxima Canal is also known as the reroute of the Zuid-Willemsvaart or Omlegging [Eindhoven] constructed. Eindhoven was connected to the major Zuid-Willemsvaart canal through the Eindhovens Kanaal branch in 1843 and was connected by rail to Tilburg [Iron Rhine] 64.0 Weert Zuid-Willemsvaart Line to Eindhoven 55.0 Budel Border NL/BE 30.9 Hamont 27.4 Sint-Huibrechts-Lille former Line to Eindhoven Kanaal Bocholt-Herentals [Drongelens Canal] for shipping on the Meuse.
