Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Main Line - Liverpool to Wigan)
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Main Line - Liverpool to Wigan) is a broad canal and is part of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Main Line).
It runs for 35 miles through 6 locks from Eldonian Village (which is a dead end) to Wigan Junction (where it joins the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Main Line - Wigan to Leeds) and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Leigh Branch)).
The maximum dimensions for a boat to be able to travel on the waterway are 72 feet long and 14 feet and 11 inches wide. The maximum headroom is 8 feet and 4 inches. The maximum draught is 4 feet and 3 inches.
It has junctions with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Appley shallow locks channel) at Appley Locks (eastern entrance); with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Stanley Dock Branch) at Stanley Dock Cut Junction; with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Rufford Branch) at Lathom Junction and with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Appley shallow locks channel) at Appley Locks (western entrance).
