Ascending - the towpath is to the right, on the far side of the narrow locks

A path has developed between the locks on the non-towpath side, but this requires walking around the intervening pound. The towpath is on the far side of the old narrow flight: as this was six locks replaced by the current five wide locks, the bridges are not conveniently placed to walk around this side either. The locks are deep and the pounds exposed to a side wind: all contrive to make this spectacular flight difficult for single- or double-handing.
