Close up of lock 15

Note the Express Lift Tower in the distance. It is a former Lift Testing Tower which was built in 1980 and officially opened in 1982 by HM Queen Elizabeth II. The only building of its kind in Britain, it is a grade II listed building. It ceased operation in 1992, when Express Lifts were taken over by Otis.
