Towpath sign with name of bridge

To meet their Customer Service Standards there was an instruction from BW Head Office that all Waterways should have all their bridges named or numbered lest assistance needed to be summoned by users in an emergency. The local response to naming structures that were previously unnamed was not as imaginative as it might have been, and although everything seemed to be named, it was not necessarily a unique name. _sigh_
